The generous scholarship award helped cover the cost of submitting
applications, preparing and traveling for interviews, and increased my chances of having a successful match. The scholarship allowed me to apply to a wider selection of residencies without having to worry too much about the financial repercussions. This was crucial since it allowed me to freely consider many possibilities and increased my chances of getting interviews and having a successful match.

The Thalamus.org Application Scholarship greatly lightened the financial load associated with applying for residency programs. This scholarship afforded me the financial freedom to apply to a competitive number of residency programs, fund travel to in-person interviews, and purchase necessary items to create a professional and engaging virtual interviewing space.

Future Physicians’ Week: Honoring the Path to Practice

Recognizing and celebrating the full journey from early interest to physician

Future Physicians’ Week is a global observance created by Thalamus to celebrate the full pathway to becoming a physician — from early inspiration through independent practice. The week brings together learners, educators, program leaders, recruiters, health systems, policymakers, communities, and technology partners to highlight and strengthen every stage of the physician journey.

By advancing data-driven insight and cross-sector collaboration, we ensure future doctors are prepared, supported, and positioned to meet evolving healthcare needs.

Thala-Bus: A Mobile Simulation Solution

Investing earlier in the pathway—before medical school even begins.

Thala-Bus, a mobile simulation unit, is designed to strengthen the U.S. physician workforce—starting in New York. Thala-Bus is more than just simulation training. It’s a solution for the physician shortage crisis, rural health disparities, medical student training, and public health emergency outcomes.

  • NextGen pathway to physician workforce: An early pathway building program to inspire middle and high school students to pursue careers in medicine.
  • Expand access:  Bring advanced training to rural health, remote clinics, and underserved areas.
  • Bridge the gaps in medical education: On-site training for medical students who are seeking knowledge of opioid and NARCAN training; Stop the Bleed trauma response; mental health and suicide prevention; and more!
  • Train more citizens in basic life support (CPR, AED, and airway management): Support our burdened healthcare system and improve emergency health outcomes with early intervention.
